CALAMECCA
The fortified castle of Calamecca existed already around
the 11th century, which was a stop for the travellers crossing the
valleys of Pescia and Pistoia. The castle, demolished in 1182 by
Pistoia as it has rebelled against their domination, was rebuilt
during the 13th century. Today the castle preserves its structure
from the 13th century, but it is surrounded by other buildings from
the 16th century, such as the charming Pieve di San Miniato.
