MARLIANA
Located in the middle of the chestnut forests, Marliana dominates
the valleys of the rivers Vincio and Fievole, with its powerful
castle from the 13th century. The old castle was demolished in 1177
during the war against Montecatini, but was rebuilt in few years.
After having had an important role in the fights between Lucca and
Pistoia for the domination of the area, Marliana experienced a peaceful
period under the Florentines.
