INTRODUCTION
The Abetone is the most equipped and the most important ski-station
in the Apennine. In the winter the skiers can enjoy more than 50
km of runs along the valleys Val di Luce, Valle dello Scoltenna,
Valle della Lima and Valle del Sestaione. Champions such as Zeno
Colò made the Abetone famous in the whole world, and the
numbers of visitors increases every year thanks to the runs and
the beauty of the landscape.

The
Abetone is mainly the destination for the inhabitants of Pistoia and
Florence who come here during the weekends with the skies and the
snowboard on the roof of the car in order to relax after a working
week. But the Abetone and the Pistoiese mountain are well equipped
to host all these visitors thanks to the excellent services and accommodations,
even for long term holidays and during Christmas and other holidays.
Efficient cable-cars, runs for any skier and a vast selection
of accommodations are the main characteristics of the municipalities
of Abetone, San Marcello Pistoiese, Cutigliano and Maresca, the heart
of the Tuscan Apennines.
The Pistoiese Mountain offers more than just winter-sports.
It is nice to come here in the springtime, in the summer or during
the autumn. The trail itineraries can be run on foot, by bike or on
the horse-back. There are lots of possibilities to practise sports,
enjoy the forests, lakes and rivers for canoeing. And do not forget
the charming villages and the cuisine. Perfect for families with children
and seniors who want to breathe fresh air and for young people who
want to practise sports.
The eco-museum of the Pistoiese Mountain was carried out to
safeguard and enhance the culture of this area between Pistoia and
the Abetone. One of the best ways to enjoy this landscape is to take
one of the trail itineraries. The strategic position of the Pistoiese
Mountain makes it the ideal start-point to visit the nearby art cities
such as Pistoia, only some km away, and Florence which you reach in
less than two hours. |
